Lacquer

Lacquers suitable for wood are used. The surface must be prepared before coating. It should be dry. Sand with fine sandpaper parallel to the fibers. Then clean off the dust with a dry cloth. Only then can the material be coated with lacquer using a brush, roller, or sprayer. Apply the lacquer in 2-3 layers. When working with lacquer, wear gloves and protect your respiratory system.

Polyurethane lacquers are excellent. They create a film without changing the color of the material, which protects the surface not only from moisture but also from mechanical damage, scratches, and impacts.

Oiling protection

The most commonly used method, as it is affordable. Heat the oil on a water bath to a temperature of 60 degrees. Apply the first layer with a brush to the plywood. Go over the edges. Dry the material with a construction hairdryer. You can also use an iron, which needs to be preheated to 200 degrees. Then apply the second layer. Then another 1-2 layers.

Epoxy resin

Epoxy is a good protection against moisture. The surface becomes hard after applying epoxy. Epoxy resin is mixed with a hardener and then acetone is added.

Wax

Impregnation with wax and oil. Natural oil is needed. Beeswax (can be purchased in stores where honey is sold). Turpentine is also needed. Heat the wax on a water bath and mix it with the oil. Then pour in the turpentine. The proportions of wax, oil, and turpentine are 2:1:1. Pour the solution into a jar and let it cool.

Apply this mixture to the surface of the plywood. Heat it with a hairdryer to dry and then polish. Now you have waterproof plywood.
